Join us for our holiday concert:
Annual Festival of Christmas Music
A revival of Thomas Lloyd’s popular cantata
As Well for the Poore as the Peere
For Christmas, we’ll perform Thomas Lloyd’s cantata As Well for the Poore as the Peere, which reimagines the medieval English tradition of the rich and poor celebrating together for the holiday. We’ll also share some traditional music of the season, audience sing-along carols, and a candle-lit Silent Night.
Saturday, December 14 at 7:30pm
Sunday, December 15 at 4:00pm
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Doylestown
with the Fairmount Brass Quintet
the Treble Choir of the Princeton Boychoir, Adam Good, director
and Timothy Urban, hurdy-gurdy (mechanical violin)
As Well for the Poore as the Peere! is a suite of English carols sharing the common theme of the rich and poor coming together to celebrate the humble origins of the Christ-child. The royal sound of the brass is contrasted with the folk-based origins of the mechanical violin (hurdy-gurdy).
